The passion that these women showed for their Love, famliy, and faith was something that I can only imagine is because of the traumatic loss that they encountered during the Hurricane. The younger of the two women told of how she was worrying about her father and the rest of her family. As they tell their story they share that they will miss the people, the fun times during Mardi Gras, and the hopes of one day being able to return to their homes.
These women are putting themselves out there in the middle of everything expressing what they know, Love. Love of family, Love for their faith. The story they shared could bring people together in a sense that if more people are informed or if more people actually care for others then situations where livelihoods are lost, can be somewhat smoothed out by the helping hands of other people. To me these women have courage in that they are willing to share the story of the hardship they endured during Katrina. Also the storycorps project is somethin that should have been started years ago. So many people with so many stories unable to share their past.
I do have a few questinos though.
A. What inspired you to tell your story?
B. Did her dad make it out alive?
C. How long after Katrina was this told?
